NX9 Gear Generator

Has NX9 own Gear Generator (like as Inventor, Solidworks) or must I download an aplication (modul)?

Re: NX9 Gear Generator

Do a Search on this website.  There are some Grip Programs in other threads.

Re: NX9 Gear Generator

Set environmental variables.
variable name = UGII_COUNTRY
variable value = PRC

GCtoolkit for gear modeling will appear in your toolbar.

Re: NX9 Gear Generator

what do you mean by this John?

Re: NX9 Gear Generator

If you have problems, and you're not working in China, there is no obligation on Siemens' part to help you.

Re: NX9 Gear Generator

oh, understood. I am not in china but this works for me. So I thought that this might work with everyone..

Re: NX9 Gear Generator

It will only work in NX9 if you have a license for the Greater China Toolkit. Without that license you get an error.

Re: NX9 Gear Generator

I was using Gear modelling (china version) very nicely in NX7.5, but now we have gone to NX10 it is not available at all. Is there any other solution for creating gear models in NX?

I will be very dissappointed if the answer is no, as other CAD packages offer it.

And the answer is - NO (if you are outside China)

I too have no idea why this is so, but that's the way it is.

(yes, it boggle my mind too why NX doesn't have this capability "built in" - they even used to have a KF based "Gear wizard" module you could buy, but that is no longer offered for sale)

You could try the gears in the mechantronics library (%UGII_BASE_DIR%\MECHATRONICS\mcd_reuse_parts\...\gear)

You could try KISSSOFT (A Siemens partner)

You can do your own.
