I don't have an advanced sheetmetal licence

However have you tried optimize face before the analyze formability?

Look at this thread http://community.plm.automation.siemens.com/t5/NX-Design-Discussion-Forum/Unbend-Sheet-metal-in-Prog...

You do not use the command otimize face imho. However this command is located in menu>insert>synchronous modeling>optimize>optimize face

Did you try it on my part ?

No, I did not. My pdw trial license has expired long ago. I tested more complex parts that your and I never had any problems. The command is difficult to use, follow step by step the video I posted.

I'm sorry but I do not know how to help you without the proper (PWD) license. Follow the video from minute 1:41 by selecting only a planar face.

Hi,

I would assume that you have a license that can use analyze formeabiliy.

here are the steps to use this command:

1. on the Type: Select your desired type, in my case i used advanced unform

2. select object type: In this example, i just used the body in the type to make it easier to explain

3. under boundry condition - it should be set on point to point. you can see the point on face that I selected in the image below.

4. under material, select the material of your model, in this example I just used steel as default.

5. for the draw direction I used -YC direction for the vector.

6. under the thickness check if it is the correct thickness of your model.

7. under calculation I just checked the infer element size and allow NX to assign it on its own. you can also input your desired element size. then click mesh.

8. check the mesh quality, if it passed. click calculation. you can have the flatten shape now.

hope this helps,

PS: you don't need to optimize the face
