Re-naming parts in an assembly

Pioneer
Pioneer

So we've finally completed the a fairly large tool assembly and before we release, it's been decided that we should re-name our models to be more logical.  Short of pulling up parts, and doing a file save as - is there an easier way to accomplish this?

Thanks for the help.

Do a clone operation.

Menu > Assemblies > Cloning > Edit Existing Assembly.  Here's a quick video showing how this is accomplished:

The video shows parts being selected one at a time - you can select multiple components.

Note:  It's always a good idea to backup your data before these kind of clone operations.

Hi,

Although Ben has already summed it up i would like to refer to an old post you might find worth trying.

One of my colleagues have created a macro file where you can do modifications in a spreadsheet for renaming the parts of the assembly (complete details are covered in the attachment with the referenced thread).

Do try it and let us know.

Best Regards
