Remove reference from single interpart expression

Experimenter
Experimenter

Hello,

In my model I have several interpart expressions linked to the same part. I need to remove reference to this part for one of the expressions. How can it be done? I was able to remove references from all.

 Here is example:

I want to remove references for the highlighted dimension.

Then I try to Edit multiple interpart Expressions.

I get the source part in the window but no way to select from which dimension to remove reference to this part.

As a result it is all interpart expressions that are loosing reference to the source part.

Has anyone encoutered this issue before? The only solution that comes to my mind is to remove expression from all features where it is used, then delete it and create one that has the same value. But I would rather avoid this as the expression is used in multiple places within the part.

Thanks for help!

Dominik

Hi @Stepello,

As a result it is all interpart expressions that are loosing reference to the source part.

That's right. There is no way to remove reference for one IPE.

One workaround that you may consider

  • Create a new expression
  • Using 'Replace Expression', replace IPE with new expression
  • Delete IPE
  • Rename the new expression to earlier IPE that was deleted

Hi @GaneshKadole,

Thanks for your answer. I cannot really get it to work.

It might be that I didn't explain my problem fully.

Here it is:

I have Assembly_1 with expression named "Length"

then this expression is used in Subassembly_1 as an IPE.

This IPE from Subassembly_1 is then used in Part_1 and Part_2 also as IPE.

IPE in Part_1 and Part_2 is not directly connected to Assembly_1

This way if I try to do your method and create new expression "Test" in Subassembly_1 and then replace "Length" with it I am not able to delete "Length" as it is still used in Part_1 and Part_2.
