NX 9.0.3

Our aero department has asked if we(design department) can come up with a method within NX to convert our solid bodies in to water tight sheet bodies.

Ideally the workflow would be fairly simple, so the aero guys can do it, without extensive NX training, with traceability back to the original "master model".

Has anyone done anything like this in NX?

One of the aero guys mentioned they used ANSA as an intermediate software, between CAD and Star ccm+ (CFD software).  We want to avoid a third piece of software, staying in NX until it's ready to go to CFD.

Have you tried using the 'Unsew' function?

That sounds very promising, thanks.

how does the process look ?
you have the NX solid, then .... and after that Star CCM?

I imagine that if you open the NX file in ANSA and ANSA only can use sheet bodies, the NX solid will suddenly have become a sheet body?
Or is it ANSA that you want to avoid ?

We are trying to avoid ANSA.

I showed the CFD guys, and they are testing the process to see what they think.
