Hi @Mas2,

In this Forum you can ask NX CAD specific questions, as there are NX specialists around.

If you want to know what Solid Edge can do when opening SolidWorks data, the Solid Edge Community is definitely a better place to go.

How to explain the situation.

If I don't use Teamcenter, I have old SolidWorks files, 3D and 2D files, 2D files are generated by 3D, so 2D will be updated after 3D modification, now I want to change software, from SolidWorks to SolidEdge, how do I  Process these SolidWorks files.
If I use SolidEdge to read these files and then save them as SolidEdge files, when I modify the 3D files in SolidEdge, will the 2D files be updated? all files are SolidEdge file .

as mentioned by @Johannes_H, this is a Siemens NX forum, not Solid Edge forum.

Anyway :

  1. SolidWorks 3D files can be opened by Solid Edge, depending by the year when the respective release CAD software was released. 2D SolidWorks files can be converted to 2D Solid Edge file via the CMM tool. I suggest the CMM tool for a large number of files to be converted
  2.  No, after conversion, you lose the relation from 3D to 2D and vice-versa that is present for SolidWorks file.

Usually, this is the normal situation when a company switch from a CAD to another. We are a big company that has acquired others company and we had technician department with SolidWorks, Creo direct and Solid Edge.

The official CAD system is Siemens NX. If we have to revision drafting, we use the source CAD, for a new project, we start with NX and convert if necessary 3D parts from other system CAD.

It clear that we are under a PDM, 1000000 of files are present on our PDM.

Thank you...
