Subdivision Modeling

I personally have a history with applications like 3DS Max or Maya, where you can manipulate models on a polygonal level. Is that possible to do in NX? I would like to be able to access all of the faces and vertexes that make up the models. Similar to the way 3DS Max works. Can this be done?

There are videos in NX Help showing NX Realize Shape subdivision modeling. Here is a link:

https://docs.plm.automation.siemens.com/tdoc/nx/11/nx_help#uid:xid1128417:index_xid851385:xid961405

You will need to use a browser with Flash enabled to see these videos.

There are also a bazillion videos on Youtube. just search for "NX Realize Shape."

With NX Realize shape, you drag the control structure rather than the polygons. This results in high-quality industrial design smooth surfaces. If you want to directly drag the subdivision polygons to make cat sculptures, there are other programs you can find to do that, such as Blender. If you do want to to that, you can import the OBJ files into NX Realize Shape.
