User defined Units in NX

Builder
Builder

Hi all,

I need to know, how to add user defined units to old and new parts.

For new parts I can do this by edit the seedpart and within that adding my new units - e.g. dm^3 - by the units-manager. I I create a new file aftern then, each new parts has the new unit.

But what can I do than with my old parts? Did I have to add in all separate Parts the new units? That would take me hours of work.

And what can we do for other users with there odl parts?

Where does NX store it´s standard OOTB units und where the new user defined units, when I create them? Is there a way to have a central table-file to manage the nx units? I didn´t find a way in the customer defaults.

As a workaround, can I do it by a VB-Tool?

Hi @Michael_E,

You can define custom units and write down those to a file so that it can be available for all the parts. Follow the steps

> Define the environment variable "UGII_UNITS_WRITE_FILE" with value "1"

> After adding new unit, click on 'Write File' and provide the required name and directory path to save this '.xml' file.Capture.PNG

> Now set another environment variable with value equal to the path of the custom defined unit xml file. Example "UGII_UNITS_USER_DEFINED_FILE = C:\Units.xml"

> Restart NX and you will find the custom defined units in all the parts.

Hi Ganesh_Kadole,

thank you! I have found it  just by myself i little bit later after my post here in the NX documentation. It works fine.

Thanks
