Using STL parts in assembly

Hello all,

I would need some help: is it possible to use STL files in an assembly like the other parts?

I have a set of parts exported as STL (no other formats possible to get) and I need to create an assembly based on them, but constraints cannot be applied to the faceted models.

Can you tell me if there is any way this can work or any workaround?

Thanks for any help!

可以在STL组件模型里建立点,线或者面,用这些对象来建立约束,不过会比较麻烦。

you can create some geometry on the STL to constrain you assembly constrains to.

For example you can add planes and axises to the geometry to use in an assembly constrain.

In NX 11 and 12 you can convert them to a convergent body. Here you can add maybe some more geometry to reuse in an assembly constrain.

Thanks for feedback and explanation. What you proposed, I was planning to use the last resort. I was wondering if it is possible to do assemblies natively with STLs (as convergent bodies) without any additional modelling.

At the present time you will need to do some additonal modeling with the STL files.
