Hi @Alex1985,

NX has an autosave option in the customer default. Normally is off, but you can turn it on.

I think work for the time to last save and not on how many modifications are done.

Thank you...

Hi @Alex1985,

As @cubalibre00 suggested, following is the customer deafult setting where you can set the interval time (maximun 120 minutes) so that reminder is presented to the user as described in the tooltip information.

Hi @GaneshKadole,

thank you for the clarification. NX doesn't do an autosave, but un reminder.

Thank you...

Trust me, we've had this debate before and the consensus has always been that if this feature was available, it would be disabled in virtually 100% of our customer's set-up.

First-off, it would be a pain in the ###.  For example, with the way NX works, with multiple files open at once, like when an Assembly is being worked on, which files do you want to be saved when the 'autosave' times out?  Just the Assembly or all modified Components?  What if more than one Assembly is open and there are Components in common, what happens then?

What about parts which were opened strictly for reference purposes but due to things like changing the display status of objects or a layer change, would be flagged as 'modified'?  Do you want them saved as well, with those display/layer changes being set?  And when a situation occurs where files were saved that you didn't want to be saved, despite what the software thought were eligible files for saving, the user will either disable the feature or they will open ER's requesting the inclusion of an ever more complex set of options needed to control exactly which files were saved and which were exempted, creating so much complexity that eventually the user will come to the conclusion that it's just NOT worth the hassle and disable it permanently.

Like I said, this has been debated before and eventually the issues that I covered above, and others, become apparent to everyone and the proposal is dropped.

Are you kidding me?!

At the f..g NX has strict separation between "Work part" and "Part without access" (just reading) (especially if you have TeamCenter). Of course you should do thi s autosaving only for working part.

There was an auto-save feature available 25+ years ago, but ever since the size and complexity of parts has raised.

At that time one user set the auto-save period to 1 minute and he was stuck in a loop without any way to work.

If you use inter-part modeling you also have to save the source parts of any inter-part geometry or expression, so you cannot only save the current work part.

What if saving would take an hour?

The save-reminder allows the user to take the right action, since there are too many options that NX users would like to have saving done.

Remember this is not any of these simplistic office suites.

Not everyone uses Teamcenter and has "backup copies" of their parts. So in a Native environment you are editing the master/original part.

So just imagine you were testing a bunch of things out on your large complex part. You delete a bunch of features temporarily (and may use the Undo to get them back if needed), you change a bunch of features, and then after all this you decide this is not the direction you want to go. With a couple of Undos you would be right back where you started.

But what if the autosave happened right at the end of your edits. Well now you have lost all your Undo capability and you now have a lot of work ahead of you to get back to the original design.

That reason alone is why I am happy there is not an autosave.

Even with Teamcenter you don't have the ability to go back endlessly. The regular setting is to be able to go back within three saved versions of the current revision. Sure if you revise often, you can go back much further, but that isn't practical mostly.

I'm absolutely shure, you have no reasons don't do autosaving. Because a lot of CAD software has it. System creates special bak files which you can sort by time and download each step what you want. You can adgust time delay if it neccesery
