hello all, i used catiaV5 before and it has a function in the measurement command that you can check the part thickness on the fly also the flatness of the face, is the same thing possible in NX too? checking the surface is flat or not is really painful, any solution on this?
Solved! Go to Solution.
you can use "Face curvature analysis" to check the flattness of a surface
And use "check wall thickness" for the thickness check.
these checks are not included in every bundle of NX
True a "Face curvature analysis" is ok but i have to select the face and run the analysis that's painful because i need it frequently but in catia it used to be i just select a command and it displays the flatness with a plane symbol next to it, i cant find something like this
i can compromise on thickness as it is less frequent, but a similar tool is available in catia to perform the task
@ruud_vandenbrand thanks for the video mate!!!
but as u see this method is ok for a simple block, where in i have a complex geometries of a automotive bumper and lots of reinforcement parts, this method is ok but takes a hell lot of time.!!!
if you have used catia u will know, its lot easier
did you tried to type in the Catia command in the NX command finder?
NX 188.8.131.52 MP11 Rev. A
GM TcE v184.108.40.206
GM GPDL v11-A.3.6
I realize you're not using NX12, however, you might be interested to learn about the new Thickness Analysis functionality starting with NX12.0.1 mp1. With the Measure dialog open, use Object to select the solid body and then with Point selected, use the Point on Face option to select a point on the face of the body to see a dynamic thickness displayed. You can then drag that point around the entire body:
