create an unwrapped section view?

I've got a cylindrical part that I'd like to "split" and then "unwrap" in a section view, similar to the attached files.  The only difference is that I want to view the ID of the part and not the OD.

I've tried just about everything I can think of, but nothing seems to be working.

I think you can create an approximate something like it.

1. start (Activate) a sketch in the view
2. sketch a circle (I converted it to reference)
3. Create a Section line by picking points along the circle.
4. Create a Section View using the existing section line.

This is not truly a circular section, but uses line segments following the circle.
