between different systems you can't export a feature tree.
There are tools for or companies that can translate the complete feature tree to NX (data migration)
The tools aren't cheap.
With Synchronous modeling you are able to make changes to the imported step body and bring knowledge back to the part.
Thanks for the answer! So basically, when I export files between software, I only export solid bodies/ surfaces without any features / constraints / history?
As mentioned, there are 3rd party translators that ATTEMPT to create features in the destination system, but I would test before buying, as I suspect at a certain point (i.e. model complexity) things could get "interesting".
With synchronous modeling you will still be able to edit the "dumb" solid.
But it will not be the same as re-creating from scratch in the destination system.

I'd rather be e-steamed than e-diseaseled
