minimum distance between two curves

Genius

I want to know whether two curves intersect. Deviation Checking seems to work by creating a sepecified amount of points on the curves and comparing distances between those points.

Q1: Is it possible for NX to calulate the minimum distance mathematically?

Q2: How can I create the shortest straight line connecting two curves?

Thanks!

Use Analysis->Measure Distance:

@surfactant,

As a general practice, I would recommend only using Deviation Checking for situations where faces and/or edges are involved or you require the distance over a span of many points between 2 curves.

I would use Measure Distance for almost everything else, particularly if it's curve to curve and/or Snap Point based.

Just my personal use of the 2 commands - I'm not going to stand on a soapbox and preach to anyone else that feels differently.

Hi @TimF  I have being thinking about the role of Deviation Checking for a long time. Thank you for sharing your practice!
