An Easy Way to Do Kinematic Studies on Free-Body Sketches in NX 12

If you make products that have moving parts, chances are you want to see them in action and need to know kinematic properties such as displacements, velocities, accelerations, and even collisions. New in NX 12  is Animation Designer and it will do just that.


The process for defining a kinematic study on a sketch is simple:


  1. Define what should move (create Rigid Groups)
  2. Define how Rigid Groups move (apply Joints)
  3. Define how fast Joints move (add Motors)
  4. Then view kinematic properties (set Measurements and show Graphs)
