Edge Blend Variable Radius Point Along a Chain in NX 11.0.1

Edge Blend is enhanced in NX 11.0.1 to define variable radius points relative to a chain of edges.

Prior to this enhancement, an arc length location of a variable radius point was relative to an individual edge. The example below is a preview of an NX 11 edge blend feature with variable radius points. The location of the variable radius point is 50% arc length.

50% arc length50% arc length

The location of another variable radius point is also 50% arc length, because the arc length is measured along and relative to an individual edge.

In NX 11.0.1, an arc length location of a variable radius point is relative to a chain of edges. In the example below, the location of the variable radius point is 26% arc length along the chain of edges selected.26% arc length26% arc length

The location of another variable radius point is 82% arc length along the chain.

82% arc length82% arc lengthWhen the geometry of the model changes, the blend will update. The variable radius points change physical location to maintain their relative location along the chain of edges.

The physical length of the chain has changed considerably, and the location of the 26% variable radius point remains at 26% arc length along the chain, but the physical location has changed.

I can easily change the location of the point along the chain to influence the shape of the blend. I can drag the point along the chain or key in an arc length value.Change location to 34% arc lengthChange location to 34% arc length
