With NX12 we introduced the new DMU application. This application formalizes the ‘working’ assembly process that NX users have employed for years to evaluate their designs, perform ‘what if’ studies or prepare for design reviews. The new DMU Workset is used to store all the DMU data that is created.
The DMU application Home ribbon contains existing NX functions and new DMU specific functions. Existing functions like Measure, View Section, Assembly Clearance… can be used to analyze the state of a design or compare existing designs. The new DMU functions like Create Snapshot, Move in Workset, Insert product… allow users to manipulate the design without modifying the referenced product assembly and capture various states of the design in snapshots. Each snapshot can capture the view orientation, component visibility and component position at the time the snapshot was created. The snapshot is easily reactivated by double clicking the snapshot preview image to quickly return to that captured state.
The new DMU application allows users to analyze and review their designs in ways that were not possible in previous releases of NX. The functionality delivered in NX 12 represents our initial offering and we plan to deliver additional DMU specific functions in future releases. We encourage you to tryout the new DMU application and provide your feedback.
