NX Quick Tips - NX 9 Assembly Clearance Analysis

Assembly Clearance commands in NX can check selected components of an assembly for possible interferences. You can perform an analysis and display the results in your NX session.

You can do many things within Assembly Clearance:

  • Have an overall look at the interferences in your assembly.
  • Isolate an individual interference for a closer look.
  • Modify how the interferences are displayed.
  • Define how to perform further analyses.

In this NX Quick Tips video, I'll show you how to take advantage of the Clearance Analysis functionality in NX 9.

NX Assembly Clearance reports the following types of interferences:

  •  Soft Interference - The minimum distance between the objects is less than or equal to the clearance zone. Objects that are closer than this distance are reported as interference, even if they do not touch.
  • Touching Interference - Objects are touching but do not intersect each other.
  • Hard Interference - Objects intersect each other.
  • Containment Interference - One object is completely contained within another object.
