You can use Wrap/Unwrap Curve feature to apply text or geometry to a wider range of surfaces now in NX 10. In the past, you were limited only to cones or cylinders, but now you can wrap and unwrap developable surfaces as well.
This is useful when you want to apply text or geometry for decorative purposes. Sometimes you want to engrave or emboss your company's name on a part, for example. Or perhaps you're designing a consumer product with ornamental patterns on it.
When you utilize this feature, you get a visual representation of exactly what the finished product will look like. In the case of engraving or embossing, the design is complete and ready for manufacturing to perform the work. Your decoration or text will be properly aligned and spaced to the geometry.
I'll show you exactly how you can apply text or a logo on a design using the Wrap/Unwrap Curve command on a developable surface in this NX Quick Tips video.
