New Convergent Modeling Capabilities in NX 11.0.1

Convergent Modeling technology brings design into the future by combining facet and feature based modeling. If you haven't heard about it yet, be sure to check it out!

 

NX 11.0.1 expands capabilities to work with convergent (facet) bodies. Here's the breakdown of new commands and what each does...

 

Facet Body from Body
The Facet Body from Body command has been enhanced to (optionally) create a feature being associative to its analytic input body. The Associative toggle will be available for type Convergent.

Delete Body
The Delete Body command has been enhanced to accept convergent bodies as Body to Delete as well as Body to Keep.

Multi-Patch Alignment
The Multi-Patch Alignment command has been enhanced to accept convergent bodies as alignment bodies as well as reference bodies.

 

 

Best Fit Alignment
The Best Fit Alignment command has been enhanced to accept convergent bodies as alignment bodies as well as objects to move. A mixture of convergent bodies and NX Facet Bodies will be supported.

 

 

Point Set to Point Set Alignment
The Point Set Alignment command has been enhanced to accept Convergent Bodies as objects to move. A mixture of convergent bodies and NX Facet Bodies will be supported.

Combine
The new Combine command introduced in NX 11.0.1 accepts convergent bodies as input bodies. A mixture of convergent bodies and analytic bodies will be supported.

 

Draft Analysis
The Draft Analysis command has been enhanced to accept convergent bodies as targets.

Check Wall Thickness
The Check Wall Thickness command has been enhanced to accept convergent bodies as targets and faces of these convergent bodies for face selection filter.

Deviation Gauge
The Deviation Gauge command has been enhanced to accept convergent bodies, faces of convergent bodies and edges of convergent bodies as objects and references. A mixture of convergent bodies, NX facet bodies and analytic bodies will be supported.

Replace Feature
The Replace Feature command has been enhanced to accept convergent bodies as feature to replace as well as replacement feature.

Same as for re-parenting during feature edit there are some limitations:
• Facet features can be replaced with analytic features
• Facet features can be replaced with facet features
• Analytic features cannot be replaced with facet features

The Automatically Execute Geometric Matching option won’t be supported for convergent bodies because it would require surface parameters which don’t yet exist for convergent bodies.

 

Divide Face
The Divide Face command has been enhanced to support the Extend Dividing Object to Meet Face Edge option for convergent faces.
