In the old days of manual drafting, everything had to be done by hand, including calculating view angles. Modern CAD systems automate a great deal of this, of course, and have enabled much faster and more accurate drawing creation. However, it was still sometimes necessary to perform manual calculations to get the correct angle for a projected view.
In NX 11.0.1, the Orient View command improves productivity by allowing you to easily specify the rotation angle by selecting geometry from the base view, eliminating the need to manually calculate the angle. It’s fully associative, so if your geometry changes, the angle of the view changes along with it. You can select geometry lines, centerlines or section lines as the basis for the view angle. Naturally, you can edit the view, as well. This new functionality makes your drawings faster and easier to create, and ensures that they will stay up to date as the base geometry changes.
