All new in NX 12.0.2 features enhancements to shipbuilding. Design and manufacturing welds allow creation of joints  in design that can be used in manufacturing. This also allows manufacturing to modify the weld joints without modifying the design weld. Lastly, this will allow the manufacturing of welds to be updated when the design weld changes. Weld Joints design and manufacturing.png

 

 

There are two modes in which you can design and manufacture these weld joints. BVR mode and in 4GD mode. 

 

In BVR mode  welds can be created in detail design and cloned in manufacturing to support edge preparation and XML out. Cloned welds can be modified without modifying the design weld

With 4GD mode you can have a managed attribute group (MAG) on the design weld joint which allows adjustments to the weld joint for manufacturing without modifying or revising the design weld. Also important to note that in this mode that a separate manufacturing weld is not created.

 

 

How to Use: 

 

In BVR mode: 

 

  1. Generate the Weld Joints using the Detail Design parts.
    • This can be done before or after the Manufacturing Parts are generated.

  2. Make the manufacturing container the ship container

  3. Design Welds must be saved before CloningHow to use in bvr mode.png

  4. In Manufacturing Environment start the Clone Weld command and select the weld joints to clone.

  5. Manufacturing Weld Joints can then be modified without modifying the Design Weld Joints
    • Must use Detail Design/Structure Welding/Edit Joint Definition to edit the cloned manufacturing weld joints

  6. If Design Weld Joint changes the Manufacturing Weld Joint can be updated by “re-Cloning” the Design weld

  7. Cloned weld joint is used for edge preparation

 

 

How to use in 4GD mode: 

  1. Generate the Weld Joints using the Detail Design parts.
    • This can be done before or after the Manufacturing Parts are generated. If done after then the Manufacturing Preparation feature must be updated

  2. Generate the Manufacturing Parts with Manufacturing Preparation Start the Manufacturing Joint Definition command in the Ship Structure Manufacturing application

  3. Select a weld joint and modify the weld parameters.
    • The software creates a Managed Attribute Group (MAG) on the Design weld joint that contains the manufacturing weld changes.
    • The MAG has separate access permission from the design weld joint. The manufacturing user can modify the MAG without
      modifying the design weld joint.
    • The design user cannot modify the MAG.

  4. MAG parameters are used for edge preparation
