Export part with PMI

Phenom

Hello,

I was doing some part import/export operations. Source parts have some user defined views with PMI dimensions defined.

In the 'Import Part' dialog there is option 'Import Views and Cameras'. When this option is selected, all the user defined views with PMI get imported successfully without any problem.

For the export part, with various options/combinations as shown in the image I have selected all the objects with the class selection and exported it to a new part.

Am I missing any setting/selection in the export part dialog or is this a current limitation?

Hi Ganesh!

I was doing some work with a PMI model today, so tried your workflow while I had it open.

I did not see this issue (NX 11.0.1). It all appears to work normally.

So I beleive this should work as you described (I did not use any different settings than you show).

What you described is as if someone had selected your PMI and used Display -> All Views on it.

Could you have something set in your Customer Defaults? e.g. there is a "Display in All Views" setting there.

Hi @PatMcManus,

Thanks for the reply!

Yes. When I do export part with PMI. They appear under each canned view of a new part.

No. I checked it. In customer default , for 'PMI General' setting, the option 'Display in all Views' is not checked.

I have attached a video that shows the process that I'm using.

Thanks for the AVI @Ganesh_Kadole!

That helped me discover a couple of settings that were, indeed, different from what I was unconciously using.

And when I changed them to what you have, I reproduced your situation.

The good news, is that by setting the way I suggest here, you should be able to get what you want.

The 2 settings I suggest changing:

  • Object Selection Scope = All Objects
  • Feature Parameters = Retain All Parameters

See that attached screen image of the dialog.

HIH.

Pat, are you seeing all user-defined views export to part, or just the work view?

Thank you!

@PatMcManus

I used the various combinations in the export dialog including the one that you have suggested but the result is same again.

@ChristineHaiss:

All views, canned as well as user defined.

I'm using one of the NIST sample parts, which has all of it's PMI under a User Defined Model View named "MBD_0".

HEre is the original:

After Export to a new part, then Open that new Part, here are the Model Views:

NIST2.PNG

So no problems in my case.

Hi @PatMcManus!

If possible, could you please upload that part file here. I would like to check with that.
