Customer defaults can be applied at 3 levels Site, Group and User.
You can define "common" defaults at the site or group level. Users could pick their own settings at the user level.
Note that each default can be locked at the site or group level if you want to prevent a user from changing them at the user level.
See Levels of customer defaults in the online documentation
it's all clear, but I have some questions. Can I have a different customer defaults for each NX user?
For example, a customer defaults for Bill, a customer defaults for Alex, etc?
How can I protect the customer defaults site by users modifications?
Actually, the shared folder that contains all NX setting and reuse library is open for all technician.
Every user can still have their own customer defaults.
I'm not sure exactly what controls what, but at our site we define the ENV variable UGII_LOCAL_USER_DEFAULTS to point to the user-level customer default file.
If you want to "lcok down" the site level defaults:
1) Set the Windows (OS) permissions on the folder so only the correct people have write access
This will prevent random users from changing the site level defaults
2) If you want to prevent users from changing a particular setting (over-riding the site level setting with their user level one) you can "lock" the site level setting.
Production: NX10.0.3.5 MP16/TC11.2
I'd rather be e-steamed than e-diseaseled
