Here is one example

This journal will export pdf files of all part drawings in a given folder.

This version can be run from a command line (with the run_journal utility).

Will this code run through the assembly level as well and export all the open drawings say 5 child parts with drawings and save them as pdf?

This is used for single files

If i have a big assembly (about 500+  parts), in this assembly about 250 parts is having drawing and 250 not having darwing. i want a to export the 250 drawings on single time by running the journal on main assmebly.

is there any journal available like that.

Hi

I tried for it but it did not work for an assembly level.

If you can copy all the drawings into one part file and then run the above code it will work i.e multiple sheets 250 sheets in your case.

Are the drawings "master model"?  Or are they in the same part as the model data?

There has been code posted to traverse an assembly tree.  Also available in GTAC "solutions" database.

You could use that to go  thru all components in the assembly.

Then for each component, you'll have to do one of 2 things...

1) set it to the display part & use the code above to export the drawing sheets as PDFs

2) Figure out the master model part name (hopefully you have a naming convention!), open that part, and export the drawing sheets

Hi

This is what even i said. That is of no use if you want to make displayed part on each part file in an assembly that contains the drawing.

If a code could run through each part file in an assembly and open the particular drawing sheet and export the drawing.

For Example here is the structure

Assmebly

XXX_2

XXXX

XXX_1

YYY_2

YYY

YYY_1

In the above structure you will find the drawing in XXX_2 and YYY_2.

Note(XXX,YYY are individual parts with XXX_2,YYY_2 are their drawing files).

Do we have code for this in GTAC.Please suggest

The problem is that, if you use "master model" architecture as usually recommended, the drawings are NOT part of the assembly tree.

So what you have to do is

- parse thru all components of assembly (including sub assemblies, etc.).  There are lots of other forum threads covering this.

- for each component, see if "*_2" file exists (for TC, see if specification exists?)  - note this requires adhering to a standard naming convention for the drawing files!

- open that file

- export PDF of all drawing sheets in that part.

Note I do NOT know if you can export drawing sheets from DIFFERENT parts to the same PDF file (IIRC there is an "append" option?)  (I don't know if that is what you are trying to do, or not)

Hi

Thanks for reply.

Do you have any similar Journel that runs through _2 files or with any extension/preffix.

So that i can work on that.
