Might be handy to know the next time that you are running a journal and not a compiled executable ;-)

The NX Open development guide in the NX documentation tells you all about the ways to run external code, see Executing Batch Applications => NX Open for Python.

Generally the documentation of the latest NX release offers the most complete information for earlier releases too.

I didn't even know I could create a compiled executable using python. Can you point me towards the relevant documentation  for this.

NX Open applications written in Python can only be executed as a journal. They cannot be compiled.
