How To Make Note Unpickable

Hi,

I have added some notes in drawing and I want them to make unpickable.
Any idea how to do that?

It is very hard to make something completely un-selectable.

Some things to make it "harder"

- If you use layers, put them on a layer by themselves, then make that layer visible but not selectable.  If you use an API program or journal to add the notes, this can set the layers that way.

- I think anything else will involve API programming.  Maybe a UDO?  Maybe add to title block object, then prevent users from editing the title block definition?

Hi ken,

I made it work by moving it to a specific layer and by making it visible only.

But I don't have an idea about UDO.

Can you please help me with some example ?

I have no idea how to do this in a UDO.  I was merely suggesting it as a possible technology to use.

You would have to read up on UDOs (User definable objects) and see if you can figure out something.

Another option that might work is to over-ride the "delete" action using Menuscript & your own code.

I'm not sure if you would want to replace the existing functionality, or have a /PRE or /POST action.

Then you could examine what is picked and not delete things you want to keep.

I think the biggest problem would be in finding & modifying/replacing all the "delete" actions. (note if you don't want users to delete these objects, you may also have to prevent them from editing them to just a single "blank" character, or whatever)

Hi Ken,

You are right I am facing problem in finding notes.

I found the way to make it unpickable is that moving notes or sketch into one specific layer and making it to visible only.

By the way how to over right the delete action using menu script?

There is documentation on Menuscript - see here for NX11:

https://docs.plm.automation.siemens.com/tdoc/nx/11/nx_api/#uid:index_menuscript

Note this is in the "Programming tools" help (a separate module to install, not selected by default in normal docs install).
