How to Refer a Part Attribute to Another Part

Hi,

How to refer  a part attibute to another  part  attribute or to  cell text of table?

For a example   Part A has a attribute called  DesignContext which value is XYZ.

How to refer designContext attibute  to cell of a table of another Part B?

Regards,

Sasikumar

Re: How to Refer a Part Attribute to Another Part

If the part is a component of the part that contains the table, this can be done.

If they are not part of the same assembly, this seems to be impossible.

Re: How to Refer a Part Attribute to Another Part

Just to be clear: you have a tabular note in part B, one cell of which you want to reference the attribute value in part A (value: "XYZ")?

If so, you can do this with interpart expressions. Create an interpart expression in part B that references the attribute expression in part A.

However, maintaining interpart expressions can be tricky. The preferred method of referencing the attribute in part A would be with some "assembly/component" type of relationship as mentioned by @Stefan_Pendl .

Hi Stefan,

You are correct. Could you provide sample data , How to do the same what u said.

Re: How to Refer a Part Attribute to Another Part

You just select the attribute in the column definition of the table column.

Re: How to Refer a Part Attribute to Another Part

Hi stefan,

You  have mentioned as Table->Parts List. But I want to refer to a cell value of a table.

Re: How to Refer a Part Attribute to Another Part

You can use any part attribute, since a component is just a NX object it is a regular object attribute.

It is like referencing an attribute in a drafting note.
