Macro Out of Sync

Hello,

I have a macro which causes a problem when another user is running it.

Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Thanks!

Regards,

Thomas

Macros are very dependant on everything being the same in the session.

  • Did the user start the macro from the same environment (Modelling, Drafting etc.)?
  • Is there anything different with the part open for the other user that would make different dialogs appear?

I would suggest taking the same steps interactively as the macro takes and watching what dialogs etc. appear. Compare these with what happens on a working set-up.

One recommendation is to always start a macro by going to Gateway. This means that no matter where a user starts the macro from it should work the same.

Hi @Inch

Thanks!!

  • Did the user start the macro from the same environment (Modelling, Drafting etc.)?
  • Yes the user starts the macro from the same environment. Modeling)
  • Is there anything different with the part open for the other user that would make different dialogs appear?
  • I don´t think so.

The problem seems to be when the macro tries to load the Drafting Preferences from the Customer Defaults.

When the user tries to do this step manually, everything works fine.

I had a look in the macro, because the message says that something is wrong in line 191.

I took a screenshot of that line.

Does this explain something to you why it is not working?

Best regards,

Thomas

Hi @TomK76

Sorry, but trying to interpret why a macro is failing like that is really hard. The macro contents are not documented for us mere mortals, only Siemens would really be able to understand it.

Are both computers running the exact same version (major release and patch level) of NX? You can find the patch level by going into the help menu and picking system information (or something equivalent to that).

Or file -> help -> log file -> scroll down a bit, just after the "license information" section you should see something like:

For NX1851:

Main
NX 1851.2602
OM disk mark mode: 3

For NX10:

NX 10.0.3.5 MP19, 26Sep17. See Maintenance Pack letter for detailed list of fixes.
NX 10.0.3.5
OM disk mark mode: 3

I'd rather be e-steamed than e-diseaseled

Hi @cowski1

Yes there running on the exact same version.

But I took out the part of the macro that caused that problem.

So now it is working good for your needs!

Thanks!
