So far, I'm only a month programming journal-file(s), primarily in Adv.Sim/CAE (sim & fem). No cad. I've read much of NX documentation, but so far, I'm yet unclear about: model's Instance-Hierarchy, Occurances, Prototypes, Components, etc.. I've yet to see a consice 'diagram' of Sim/Fem Instance-hierarchy tree which clearly illustrates concepts about: Components, Occurances, Prototypes, Hierarchy. I somewhat understand that, if current workPart=Fem, then current References to objects (outside of Fem) must instead ref an 'occurance' (... i think?). See my attached VB-code-file, wherein I pose a couple more questions. Any further clarification, diagrams & examples provided (to clarify these concepts) would be appreciated. (thx)
Solved! Go to Solution.
While CAD specific, if you look at the SNAP "Getting Started" guide (PDF file) there is a discussion of occurances/instances/etc. when programming in the context of an assembly (see chanpter 11).
I would *assume* most of that will be applicable in CAE as well.
Production: NX10.0.3.5 MP16/TC11.2
I'd rather be e-steamed than e-diseaseled
Thank you Ken. Yep; Chapter 11 helps me delve into assemblies & occurances with better understanding.
