NX Open for CAM post processing : memory access violation

Experimenter
Experimenter

Hi all,

I'm new to this community and I'm having problem with run_journal.exe

The intention of the code is to open a file, updates the CAM toolpath and generate the NC file.

The code works when I run the journal while NX is still open.

However, when I try to it using run_journal.exe, it has a memory access violation error when it comes to post processing.

Hope you guys can help. Thanks in advance.

What does the syslog tell you?

Is the correct environment for NX loaded?

Do you start from an NX command prompt?

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for reply. Late reply due to weekend.

If I run the journal vb when NX is opened thru Tools-->Journal-->Play, it has no problem.

But when I run thru .bat file containing run_journal.exe, the program manages to open part and updates the CAM toolpath but fails at post processing the G-code (Memory Access Violation).

The content of my .bat file is below.

@ECHO OFF
cd C:\Program Files\Siemens\NX 8.5\UGII\
START run_journal "C:\Users\cy028986\Desktop\Work Request\programming\O-ring PERA\CNC_MTC.vb"

If we suspect the CAM environment is not loaded, how it can still update the CAM toolpath?

Hope you can enlighten me.

I saw a post in forum on running ugpost.exe and maybe that could be another solution.

Re: NX Open for CAM post processing : memory access violation

I suspect your guess is right - the CAM environment is not defined.

Take a look at mach\auxiliary\runugpost.bat to see what needs to be set.
