NX10.0 - customization - Welcome Page

Hi everyone,

I have short question: Is there any way to configure or set up the Welcome Page in Nx?

I need to create some environment variable in my system which will keep the URL link of my company adress server (http). At starting NX we have Welcome Page with some tips etc. I only need to replace this start page on my custom web adress. I have done something similar in Web Browser Navigator by making my own variables and some settings&connection in Custom deafults.

I will be grateful for your help.

Best regards / Jacob

This is controlled by UGII_BACKGROUND_URL. You can see a sample in ugii_eng_ug.dat, but do not change it there - do it in your own ugii_env.dat file or by some other method.

OOTB, if you have the tips tuned on, it is:

UGII_BACKGROUND_URL=${UGII_BASE_DIR}\UGTIPS\background\${UGII_LANG}\background.html

Thanks, it works Smiley Happy

Just i make simple environment variable as You said (without http://):

UGII_BACKGROUND_URL = web adress

PS. If I have my variable for NX documentation (HELP option) by using:

UGII_UGDOC_BASE=http:\\localhost:8181/tdoc/nx/10/nx_help/#uid:index

Is there some trick to attach this variable of HELP as .dat to use in Welcome Page?

I tried to link this to UGII_BACKGROUND_URL but I recieves debug error Smiley Happy

Best regards, Jacob

The variable for the documentation base should look like UGII_UGDOC_BASE=http:\\localhost:8181

I think the sharp sign (#) is the problem, since this is starting a comment.

You should be able to create a simple HTML file with a link to the documentation.

BTW, what is wrong with the default menu item for accessing the help?

I dont know why HELP want run - I remeber the error only at start.

I fixed this by using variable:

UGII_UGDOC_BASE=http:\\localhost:8181/tdoc/nx/10/nx_help/#uid:index

Whithout (#) HELP shows me the error, when I add (#)+uid:index then was OK.

How about variable UGII_BACKGROUND_URL? Is there possibility to link the Welcome Page with localhost:8181 ?

UGII_UGDOC_BASE should not include anything after the port number.

The installation of the documentation will create an environment variable in Windows to show the correct setting.

UGII_BACKGROUND_URL can't contain the hash (#) I think, you need to add it using the URL encoded value.

The hash (#) is the comment character of the ugii_env.dat file, so it should not be used elsewhere.

The background page is not intended to be used as your browser.

If you want to do that, use the browser on the resource bar.
