RoutingPartLibrary::GetPartDefinition access-violates upon a NodeTypePart node

I have a RoutingPartLibrary node name that I know is in a RoutingPartLibrary, because I got it from a call to RoutingPartLibrary::GetChildrenNodes(...) . RoutingPartLibrary::GetNodeType(...) tells me it is of type RoutingPartLibrary::NodeTypePart, but calling RoutingPartLibrary::GetPartDefinition(...) upon the name throws an access violation ("Internal error: memory access violation"). Under what scenarios should/does RoutingPartLibrary::GetPartDefinition throw an access violation?
