Storing information in the NX assembly - UDO?

I have built an application that works well, but runs a long session that I would love to split into few separate ones. But that requires storing certain information from the previous session for use by the subsequent ones.

Do I understand it right that I can use UDO for that? Could you please advice?

Yes, UDO will help you alot in this aspect. I am using UDO too. Its too good to use to save info and use those in our programe. Those info will be saved in that prt file and your tool can retrieve as you feel like and modify the info too and can also use facility to link UDO to the Geometry.

The other options would be expressions or attributes.

Indeed. But given the nature of data using attributes or expressions would be too cumbersome.

Do you have a simple example of a data-storing UDO?

There is a UDO example delivered in the Sample Applications:

%UGII_BASE_DIR%\UGOPEN\SampleNXOpenApplications\<language>\UDO

where <language> is .NET, C++ or Java
