TextBuilder commit() returns null

Hello All,

Anyone ever used the TextBuilder to generate curves representing text?

Its a great tool interactively, but I'm trying to use it in my code, but the commit() and commitFeature() methods return null. So I can't store the returned object anywhere to modify later on.

I'm using Java which is a bit less common, so I recorded a journal in VB of creating a Text feature and added an If statement to see what was returned. This also simply got Nothing returned.

Any ideas?

My example journal is attached.

Re: TextBuilder commit() returns null

[ Edited ]

I'd guess it is a bug in NX 8.5; the code seems to work in NX 9.

There was a similar thread for "fit curves" a while back:

https://community.plm.automation.siemens.com/t5/NX-Programming-Customization/report-possible-bug/m-p...

The thread above shows a similar problem; code works in NX 9 but not in NX 8.5. It also gives one or two potential work-arounds; perhaps a similar strategy would work for the TextBuilder.

Aagghh.. I even commented on that post!

Thanks for testing in NX9, I'll live with getting the current feature for now, which is the workaround I'd already reached.
