Don’t miss the Top Shops benchmarking presentation, “What Makes A Top Shop?” from Steve Kline Jr., Chief Data Officer for Gardner Business Media (publisher of Modern Machine Shop). Since 2010, Modern Machine Shop’s annual Top Shops survey has gathered performance metrics, machining technology and business practice data from more than 2,000 machining facilities. Mr. Kline’s presentation will highlight some of the significant differences in key performance metrics as well as the various technologies and strategies used at leading U.S. shops. His presentation will also highlight the prime drivers of financial performance at machine shops based on statistical analysis of the Top Shops data.
Steve Kline is the Chief Data Officer at Gardner Business Media, Inc., a family-owned business that produces media for durable goods manufacturing industries, including Modern Machine Shop, Production Machining, Additive Manufacturing, Moldmaking Technology, Plastics Technology and Composites World magazines. He has produced forecasts for his family’s business and the metalworking and plastics industries. Also, Mr. Kline has been working on Gardner’s Capital Spending Survey, the Gardner Business Index, and Top Shops benchmarking survey since 2008. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering and an MBA with an emphasis in finance from the University of Cincinnati.
