Hello!

I am trying to find the exact time that a product is assembled. ie the time it takes to prime the line until I get an output every cycle time.

So far, the only way I can do this is by manually calculating it with excel or, by watching the thoughput count and pausing the event controller when it reaches 1 - not that accurate though.

Thanks in advance!

Hello Keithkduffy,

maybe you are interested in the average exit interval of parts in your model. The value is recorded by the **Drain** object. But which parameters can be changed?

Peter

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your reply!

What I am trying to do is calculate the time it takes for the first part to get through the line.

I am simulating an aircraft final assembly line so the lead time is quite big. (My cycle time for example is 96 hours).

But before I can get an output every 96 hours, I need to know how long it takes to get to that point.

Hope you can help !

Thanks,

keithkduffy

Hi keithkduffy,

you could insert a variable of type time with name 'LeadTime'.

Then at the end of your line you can add an exit control and add something like this:

if LeadTime = 0 then LeadTime = EventController.SimTime - @.CreationTime; end; @.move; -- this line is important if you have a front triggered exit control

This code just checks if it's the first part (i.e. LeadTime still 0). If yes it calculates the time from the point where the MU was created (@.CreationTime) to the current time (EventController.SimTime).

This should be the time you're interested.

Ralf

Hi Ralf,

I am still working on implementing this solution.

Thanks for your response and I will let you know how I get on with it.
