Can we import the inputs directly from MES department database insetead of excel

Hi All,

In one project i want to insert the data from Manufacturing Execution system dapartment datbase to my simulation model. Is it possible to import the data from any database directly instead of excel. If yes what is the procedure.

Thanks

first you need to ask for the export format from the manufacturing department (you will need only a part of the information available in the MES). Most of the systems are able to export XML or csv files or excel (as result of a sql-query). Based on this information you can select the right interface in Plant Simulation (file-interface, xml...).

Plant Simulation supports direct DB connections via ODBC. This interface is included in the Interface Package license which is an Add-On.

It allows to do SQL queries in Plant Simulation and get the resulting data directl in a tablefile. See the HELP - Add-Ins - Database Interfaces for more information.

Precondition is that the MES system features an open database that can be adressed directly (no API in between) from 3rd party software, and an ODBC driver for the client.
