I'm trying to import a 3D dwg-file into my factory (it's a robot). When I try with "Import graphics >> file.dwg" it just creates a rectangle on the floor; if I choose default (Internal) or deco(external) dosen't seem to make any difference. Is there a simple way to performe this task? or is it easier to convert the file to something else?
Importing DWGs or DXFs into Plant Simulation only imports layout files meaning that a plate as you see is imported. The use case for this is the overall construction layout of an entire plant, e.g.
To import the actual geometry, you need to convert the DWG into another suitable format. For a list of suitable formats, open the file format selection of the Import Graphic file selection dialog. Jt as our native format is of course supported, as well as a couple of other formats, depending on your particular Plant Simulation version. Parasolid files always seem to be a good choice to me (if Jt is not available in your source application, that is).
