Importing PLMXML file

Hi all,

Is it possible to import a PLMXML line designer 3d layout into Plant Simulation and, via code, create Plant Simulation objects?

I can import the whole assembly as one single 3d object, but then I want each part of the layout to be a PS object. I can do it manually by clicking the "Make Simulation Object" option.

Is it possible to do that via code?

Thanks.

Hi Steffen,

Thanks for the support. I am aware of that material. The issue is that we don't have Plant Simulation sitting within Team Center for now and we are trying to find an alternative.

Exporting an assembly in Line Designer and just importing the graphics in Plant Simulation was one attempt to work our way around it.

Any insights on that?

I would like to have a look at the 3d structure in Plant simulation

Can you please post a fraction of the imported 3d PLMXLM data (in Plant simulation)

you could try to load the "complete"  XML file into a TableFile in Plant Simulation. Than you can explore the data-structure and create the model dynamically.

Hi Simulator,

I've been trying to upload the file, but I get the message "The contents of the attachment doesn't match its file type.". Any idea of how to solve it? It is a .spp file.

Hi Steffen,

The issue is that I cannot export and XML out of Line Designer - or at least I haven't managed to do that.

your PLMXML file should be a XML-file, try to open it in a text-editor

for upload the file, just zip it

Yes, but when I open it, I cannot access all the attributes of the file.

Am I doing something wrong?

Here is a small example we are using just to explore the import functions.
