Hello All,

 

I would like to know an efficient way to compress the jt files in order to simulate high volume processes. I will be thankful for any of your suggestions. Thankyou for your time.

Thank you very much for your speedy reply, Steffen. I have tried the optimize graphics inside plant simulations based on algorithms. But I would like to know if there are any other ways available which could reduce the file size completely? Like to the order of just a few KBs?

I have read about Teamcenter, and NX to JT file conversion, but haven't really went too deep. Is it more effective? And also, if we are considering optimize graphics, which algorithm do you think would be the best to reduce the file size considerably?

I'm not an expert in this field.

You can find many articles here in the forum (just search "optimize 3D"), e.g.

But the real reduction you get only while creating the graphic. There you have the possibility to select between heavyweight and lightweight JT exports. If you really need a big reduction, then you need to delete all stuff from the file, that you don't need (show all the hidden objects and delete them, delete all things, you cannot see) or make a "light" version only for simulation (especially for MUs).

If your main target is to reduce the file size, the two strategies that probably will bring the most are

  1. the Visibility Filter (for maximal reduction choose "Triangles" as granularity and in versions up to 12.1 "Low" as simplication level or in versions starting with 12.2 "Super" as reduction level, in versions up to 12.1 also set the post-processing check box.
  2. Prune tiny graphics - this will remove unimportant small part graphics from the data.

Flattening the structure won't hurt but probably won't reduce the file size either - its purpose is mainly to speed up the animation.

 

But please always check the result - basically, both strategies remove graphic parts and it might well happen that the strategies and you might disagree about which graphic to remove.

 

These suggestions are only a first shot but hopefully, they will help you already.

Thank you again, Steffen. I will look into the links you sent. Ina nutshell, this is my Problem,
How would you simulate a high volume process with a large number of MUs in an object oriented manner making sure the Performance is not hindered and there are no crashes?

No, we just simplifed the user interface and reduced the number of parameters by binding the post-processing option to the cull granularity. The former simplification level was defined in exactly the reverse order than the current reduction level. Since "simplification level" was used outside Plant Simulation, too, we tried to make the actual behavior clearer by changing the title, too.

There is a limit to the number of objects but that limit depends on your license and in that particular case, I'm no expert either.

That is an interesting read. Thank you Peter Komarek. I would be delighted to get updates about new optimization Parameters and new ways of optimization in the future.
