Hi Forum

I am looking at modeling a very long conveyor (+10km) but the simulation takes a considerable time to solve.

I have looked at deactiving the curve attribute and playing without animation but the amount of entities in the system cannot be avoided.

Find attached the model (V13) with entities arriving every 1/6 of a second:

V_length adjusts the conveyor length

v_end adjusts the simulation end time

When the model finishes it displays the total solving time.

I would like to know what type of times you get solving for 1 day over 10km?

Also, any suggestions on how to improve the models solving speed?

Regards,

Hermias

how about using a buffer instead of a conveyor ?

Hermias,

It seems that amount of MUs is rather large, although I would not expect this to be any problems for Plant Simulation. But it is: the simulation time grows in a non-lineair fashion with decreasing MU lengths. Try 2m instead of 1m, you will get a sharply reduced simulation times.

Suspecting where this comes from, you could consider to run "bins with conents" on your conveyor. A bin of say 10m then contains a certain amount of material. If you need it more exact, you could even use a table to state where on these 10m the materials are.

Hope this helps!
