Multi-Level Underground Platinum Mine Simulation

I recently received a request to upload this model to the community, so here it is!

I built this model a few years ago to serve as a basic demonstration of Plant-Simulation's 3D modeling capabilities and how it is applicable in the mining industry. The current layout is only 6 levels but it can be extended both horizontally as well as vertically as required. The model is also not based on actual data, but that can easily be adjuted. In order to complete this model for commercial use it still needs to be able to simulate the rock-face being diminished over time with the resources having to travel further into the ground.

A short description of the model:

  • The angled rock-face is where the actual mining takes place.
  • The rocks are then dropped down chutes onto different levels where they are loaded into hoppers
  • The hoppers transports the rocks to the main shaft and drop then down chutes again, all the way to the bottom.
  • At the bottom a massive elevator tranpsorts the rocks to the surface for transporting
