Parallel Unloading of a stationary Train

Hi Forum

Scenario:

  1. Train arrives with X amount of trailers, each containing one container. The train does not move after it has stopped. (Cannot use transfer station)
  2. Multiple resources (Forklifts) can unload the train in parallel
  3. Each forklift waits with the container for a truck to arrive to load unto again.

The number of forklifts need to be variable and be able to work in parallel. They should also not be limited to a fixed path. (Agent based modeling approach might work here.)

I have thought of modeling the forklifts as workers but I do not want to build in redundant singleprocs that will not be used if there is only 1 forklift as an example.

There is probably not a simple solution but maybe someone has come across this before?

Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Regards,

H

UPDATE:

I have been playing around with workers unloading a truck to get the concept right. (Find attached model.)

Problem I am having is that the following error pops up but after I select "No" the model continues normally.

Is there any way to get around this using the approach in the attached model? (Apart from the ignore errors option)
