Struggling getting Microstation files into Plant Simulation

Hi all from Down Under.

We are struggling to a customers DNG file format into Plant Simulation.

Failing not being able to import DNG directly into Plant Sim as there is not direct interface. As an alternative we have gone down a path of IGES which only exports curves only. STEP which crashes Microstation during export and we also tried Parasolid XMT/X_T for which their systems can't produce the file.

For STEP we have no idea. For Parasolid, it's likely they don't have licences for Parasolid.

They have been able to export and import a Wavefront OBJ file successfully at their end.

Is there any way to get OBJ file format into Plant Simulation?

Thank you.

Hakan

In the mail Matthew did not mention jt export. Did they try? We had Bentley Microstation at FSG as well and jt export worked quite fine.

Hello Hakan,

You can import a DGN file as a textured plate into 3D.

Have you tested this?

An alternative would be as you said to write a JT from MicroStation.

Ralf

a further alternative is the VRML2 export from microstation and  import to Plant Simulation which

usually always works.
