Triggers with Student License

Does the student license allow access the triggers under Information Flow?

This is part of a bigger question: How can one modify the source to simulate shipments of parts every few days?

Depending on how you want to generate parts, you can use different approaches. For example, if you want to create several parts of a kind every few days, you can set Source mode to "Interval Adjustable", Interval=few days, MU selection = Sequence cyclical, "Generate as batch" checkbox. In this case the next string from Table will be generated in specified intervals.

If you need some logic which is not supported by Source, you can use SimTalk, for example, in Init method:

   ref(GenerateParts).methcall(0);

In GenerateParts method:

begin

   .MUs.Entity.Create (SingleProc);

   ref(GenerateParts).methCall(24*60*60); -- every 24 hours

end;

Also you can create one Container object every few days with Source and then use SimTalk to fill it with parts (or possibly combination of one more Source and TransferStation object).

Hi Abuster,

the Trigger object is a part of the Student license. If you want to use the Trigger for the periodic generation of parts then you select the checkbox Repeat periodically and choose the Period length on the tab Period. You prepare a method with two string parameters and insert it on tab Actions (switch off the inheritance and press Apply and then press button Methods). The Method contains an instruction like mentioned in the previous answer.

Peter

Thanks for your inputs. It turns out Triggers weren't turned on in the class management library. Due to the time constraints on our school project, an infinite source is being used, but meaningful data can still be gathered to complete the project.
