Hi Community members,
my simulation model requires that leave (vacation) and sick days of workers are taken into account. Eg. 10 sick days and 30 leave days per year per worker.
Does anyone have experience in that case and could help me with a proposal for solution?
Thank you in advance!
this depends on the level of detail you want to simulate
you could use the shift calendar which you mean you have to define the days off ( vacation /sickness) over a year ( could be automized through simtalk)
Or through a set efficiency / worker
Thanks for your reply.
Do you have a practical example how to model it in PS and SimTalk?
By using the calendar in the shift object, I would define days off for the whole shift and no one would work right?
Just a thought, that we recently discussed with a customer (actually: it was their idea). Can you think in terms of nominal days (no holidays, no sick leave)? That gives you a baseline performance, to position the impact of unforeseeable events (sickness leave) and "plannable" unavailabiliy (holidays).
Then you could study the influence of sickness leave (failure profile for the worker, discretized to whole days/multiples of 24h).
Finally, you could also consider holiday planning strategies.
I think such a split gives the best transparency and management of dynamic factors.
thank you for the hint. I think I have a baseline that I could use.
Production days: 270
Holidays p.p. : 30
Sick days p.p.: 5
Working hours p.d.: 7,8 (7:48)
Break p.d.: 0,75 (0:45)
Presence p.d.: 8,55 (8:33)
Transfered to my model and taken production,-holidays and sick days into account it gives me two availabilites I could add to the failure profile of the worker, right?!
1. Holidays --> 88,89%
2. Sick days --> 96,33%
By setting Start to shift begin and Stop to shift end would the worker be absence the whole working day?!
Thanks for your help!
no, start and end limit the duration of the failure profile
one additional idea: you could check at the start of the shift (observer of the worker for unplanned=false) if the worker is ill or not (dice a value with z_uniform or z_normal), if yes, fail him for 23 hours (startFailure(duration))
in the same way you could check the start of holidays

Hi community members,
I've set certain availabilities for my workers in order to depict sick days etc. rudimentally. If a worker fails while he is setting up a machine, are other workers then able to continue his job?
If yes, are there any options to send the worker back to the pool?
