Hello PAC,
It works exactly like you're expecting it to work. We just have missed to document this feature.

Dear PAC,

Could you please tell me, which Plant Simulation version you use?

Your description lets me asume you use Plant Simulation 12.0, right?

The behavior changed with exchanging the old-fashioned folder-selection dialog by the current one.

The syntax of browsForFolder is:

browseForFolder(title:string[, initialFolder:string])

On omitting the second parameter, the path of the initial folder:

  • In version 12.0 the dialog opens, without the used second argument the current folder the application (Plant Simulation) uses.
  • In new versions the new dialog always reuse the folder, the user has chosen the last time the dialog was used.

In consequence the SimTalk developer in version 12.0 has introduce a "variable" to hold the last user-chosen folder, to make it the initial folder on the next usage of "browseForFolder" by providing this path as second parameter.

From version 13 on the dialog used by "browseForFolder" takes care by itself!

If there are still questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Best regards,

Martin Lemburg
