In RS Engineer, there are two interesting looking menu items for line items - "Shareable" and "Template". I've never come across a description of what they are for or how they alter the behavior or usage of a line item.
Can anyone explain what they do? What are some examples of when these might be useful?

Just guess about "Shareable"
If the line item is Shareable it is read only. Nobody can check it out, modify and save. But everybody can go through the steps and import the XML if needed.
(ordinary only one user at the same time can run a model)
Shared line items are intended to facilitate line items that are used for company-specific end-user, startup applications in conjunction with the "Default Line Item" profile setting.(in lieu of the project line item screen), for reporting/viewing, or for throw-away calculations. Multiple users can concurrently have a shared line item open. Shared line items are never checked out. Shared line items cannot be saved or released. To make a line item shared, an admin should set the "Shareable" flag on that line item from the Project Line-item Screen.
Template line items are intended to be "starting point" line items, or line items that have some data pre-captured, making it possible to save time when starting a new line item. Maybe it's pre-filled with customer-specific preferences, a previously optimized design, or a common base configuration. When used in conjunction with a custom startup-application, these can be copied to a new line item that is to be configured by the user.
The new offline client sync treats template and shared line items specially. These are automatically copied from the server to the offline profile when rules are syncronized.
Thanks, Rick! Exaclty what I was looking for.
