In an investigation into the use of alternate materials in the construction of structural wing components for a Fokker D-VII biplane design, Structural Design and Analysis (SDA) undertook a comparison of different analysis approaches.
SDA used two hand calculation methods to determine aerodynamic wing loading as well as a simulation approach using Femap with NX Nastran’s aeroelastic solution. Read SDA’s full case study to find out how the different methods compared.
